I use Outreach every single day. I use it primarily to reach out cold to prospects I've never spoken to by adding them to a sequence. I also do daily cold calls, one-off emails, and LinkedIn tasks via Outreach. Lists of prospects to go after can also be built within Outreach to bulk reach out to candidates. Keeping tabs on activity KPIs is also more reliable in Outreach than it is in Salesforce

Additionally, I will use the Outreach extension in Gmail to add snippets, templates, or meeting times to my emails.

  • Sequencing prospects
  • Gmail integration to insert Calendar link, Snippets and Templates
  • Company wide Metrics tracking
  • Sequence Rules can become quite complicated (Often run into errors when trying to add a prospect and hard to determine why)
  • Gmail side bar drawer is hit or miss if it works or not to show relevant contact info
  • Response to inmails from prospects won't stop your sequence
Outreach is well suited for teams that need to do cold outbound to prospects. It's easy enough to create sequences that will use a variety of touchpoints (email, inMail, call, etc...). It's also easy to share sequences with team members to collaborate and the very best messaging. Outreach's integration over Salesforce and Gmail is also invaluable, without it each team member would probably spend hours per week clicking between tabs just to get to prospect information

On the other hand, Outreach is not the best to help you create content, as of this writing there is no AI support. It is also worth noting that Outreach's permission structure can create a lot of confusion for team members and that untangling errors at times can become complex

We leverage Outreach for outbound sales via sequences mixed with other solutions and technologies. Outreach helps us to automate the outbound sales process. I have built targeted campaigns and sequences for many different personas to keep things as personal as possible at scale. We are seeing the need for more customization and the demand for one-to-one messaging versus these mass mailers, which is making our need for Outreach a bit redundant.
  • Automated Sequences.
  • Integrations
  • Sales Solutions.
  • Reports
  • Customer Service - zero support for small - medium businesses.
  • Billing - billing is messy, and customer service for billing questions is pretty awful (if anyone is ever available).
  • Bounce Rates - our bounce rates are through the roof when using Outreach which isn't a problem we have with HubSpot or Pardot.
In my opinion, Outreach is well suited for an enterprise sales team of 50+ users - otherwise, I feel you are unseen/unheard/unappreciated, and customer support is not offered for smaller scale teams. Outreach is well suited for outbound sales that offer simple solutions that can be communicated quickly and efficiently via cold email outreach.

Outreach for sales

As a salesperson, I used to outreach to maximize my ability to connect with prospects and customers. I consistently had between 100 and 200 people running in sequences at any given time. I had sequences that were fully automated and running in the background (to drum up the interest), sequences that were partially automated and helped me stay on top of prospects that I was interested in but unable to focus too much time on, and sequences that were completely manual and assisted me in reaching high-value, engaged prospects on a regular and effective basis.
  • Keep your mail and phone schedules regulated and consistent, nothing falls through the cracks
  • Automating touches to maximize your ability to connect with prospects
  • Tracking touches, opens, links clicked, etc so you can focus on engaged prospects
  • Integration with Salesforce so all touches are logged in system of record
  • So many capabilities that it's easy to be overwhelmed when first introduced to it
  • Falling behind feels like a death sentence -- all the sudden you have 100s of tasks to catch up on
  • Expensive
I would recommend this tool for most sales teams that can afford it and have the patience to train their employees in all it can do, especially if touching many prospects daily/weekly is a key metric for success. This will ultimately make your salespeople more efficient and profitable.

For the sales team, we use it for setting cadence email sequences to not only track emails being sent but having that flow that sends different messages after the initial one, based on the recipient's actions. So whether it was open and not responded or not opened, etc. Those actions would trigger what the follow up message would be.
  • Tracks open rate
  • Sends follow up emails based on if the email was opened or not
  • Analytics
  • I would like more reporting
For a sales person, it works great in making my job easier when it comes to tracking and following up. When I am doing cold "calling" emails, I can send out 50 in a day if not more. What's great with Outreach is that it can do automatic following up based on the time duration I give (4 days, 1 week, 1 month, etc.) to send a follow up email and if the email was opened, it would get one email, if it wasn't a different email would be sent.

Outreach is used by the sales team and some members of CS. It is an extremely helpful tool for prospecting, staying organized, checking opportunities, outbounding, researching accounts, and hitting quota. Outreach is our go to for prospecting accounts and making dials. It also allows you to A/B test sequences and create lists of tasks that you have to complete during your week - all organized in handy drop down menus. It is really streamlined and easy to use, easy on the eyes, and doesn't overload the RAM of your computer. Also, there are extensions you can add to your internet browser to integrate Outreach into Gmail, Zoominfo, etc.

Outreach is incredible for sales and CS. It really makes it easy to keep track of your progress and processes with accounts, view history of communications, (literally) outreach to them via email and phone, bulk email, take call notes, record calls. You can purchase a phone number and I've never had an issue with the VOIP. Call quality is great and I love being able to see when people open up emails, read emails, click links etc. It makes following up after webinars really easy and methodical.

We use it to integrate our Gmail and Salesforce as well as a calling system.
  • Great call connectivity.
  • Detailed reports on email and calls.
  • Keeps you organized in Salesforce to know what merchants you are communicating with through email as well as their responses!
  • Sometimes there are connection issues.
  • More robust reports if possible.
  • Greater insight into areas of call or email outreach improvement.
Outreach is great in terms of transactional calls and detailed reporting with large scale calls, however, for a more refined touch other platforms such as Zoom provide that face to face interaction for meetings that are sometimes required for a multi location- high value client. When you make those calls in Zoom however, they do not carry over to be tracked in Outreach. Therefore, if your working in a metrics based environment, where every call and and minutes can be synced to Salesforce reports, this capability to link Zoom and record talk time back to Salesforce would be a welcome addition!

Outreach is currently used by our Marketing Team, specifically by our Sales Development Reps. They use it primarily for prospecting new contacts, re-engaging stale or nurtured contacts, and tracking the efficacy of specific messaging across a variety of variables. It allows us visibility into the day-to-day SDR functions, as well as creates a way for the team to ensure cohesive messaging across the team through the creation of specific sequences that address specific problems/titles/business functions/etc.
  • Visibility into messaging efficacy - we can clearly see bounce rates, reply rates, etc with this tool
  • Consistent messaging - the team is able to craft specific sequence messages that is used across the team, ensuring that our communications stay on-brand and highlight agreed-upon points for the message receiver.
  • Integration with Salesforce - whether through a trigger or direct updates, specific actions in Outreach are synced seamlessly with our CRM, allowing us to continue to use Salesforce as our source of truth for cross-functional performance metrics.
  • Triggers can be a little tricky to figure out - some limitations are not intuitive
  • User management through Salesforce feature - our process is to Freeze Salesforce accounts before deactivating them to ensure account/opportunity/contact migrations have fully taken place; Outreach will only remove licenses from deactivated users, which could be frustrating if we were already at our license cap and needed to add more users in that interim.
Outreach is well-suited for first-touch prospecting efforts as well as nurture campaigns, which is what our team currently uses the software for. It provides great messaging and process control through the creation of sequences, which helps ensure that marketing's messaging is received by the prospect. It might be less suited for touchpoints further downstream in the sales cycle, when there is a greater need for customization and personalization related to that prospect's interactions, place is the sales funnel, etc.

Both of our Sales & BDR teams use Outreach every single day. We have optimized Outreach with Dialpad as the voice component to increase productivity on outbound calls, logging activity, and syncing back to Salesforce for Management visibility. Outreach is able to keep all agents more organized, informed, and able to exceed their weekly sales activity.
  • Easy sequencing leading to more self-sourced leads
  • Easily syncs information and call activity back to Salesforce for manager visibility
  • Ability to import leads on a daily basis within active sequences to continue to improve upon outbound numbers
  • Creative idea: Much like some vendors have a mini-dialer within Salesforce, it would be interesting to see how Outreach could do something similar to keep everything within one window instead of multiple open tabs
I have tried many outbounding solutions over the last few years such as SalesLoft, Hubspot, Pardot and Outreach. I prefer Outreach over all of them today and love that both our BDR and Sales teams continue to use it daily. We find more alignment between the BDRs and AEs and the ability to share great working sequences that are getting more open rates or response rates leading to better productivity and visibility.

We are using it to nurture and book leads/create touchpoints within open sales opportunities. Being used largely by the Sales organization (business development and account executives) but also by our customer success team to ensure they remember to follow up at the correct intervals with customers/identify expansion opportunities.
  • Reminders of when tasks are due/being able to prioritize tasks on the home page
  • Metrics for managers
  • Account pages to be able to see all activity for contacts from the same account on one page
  • Ability to sort tasks based on time zone would be a game-changer
  • Better functionality for bulk uploading contacts
  • Interface could be more user-friendly
Well suited if you have hundreds of accounts/contacts to keep in touch with or to manage touchpoints with. Would not be appropriate if you have a small amount of people to keep in contact with.

Our company uses Outreach to be able to connect with hundreds of people with prewritten templates. The great thing is that it will input their names, titles, etc. to make these emails still feel personal. This system has shortened our sales cycle and improved our reach-out process. I can’t recommend it enough!
  • Mass emails
  • Contact list upload
  • Campaign organization
  • User experience
  • Navigation of site
  • Mobile friendly
Best for sales teams reaching out to many people, but still wanting to come across personal. This allows for A/B testing and great data around opens and what’s working.

Outreach is mostly used for sales outreach within our organization. It's a great way to run different series of emails to prospects or clients in various stages of outreach. For me, personally (working with existing clients), it's a way for me to manage all of my contacts, keep track of how many emails have been sent / opened / re-opened (etc.) and a way to set up mass emails to a specific group of people.
  • tracks emails
  • allows me to see who had opened / viewed an email (and how many times)
  • allows me to reach out to multiple people at once with a series of emails that will be sent over a specified period of time
I think this could be used across and organization - from sales to marketing to client services.

We use Outreach for our outbound phone calls, emails, sequences, and tracking people's output and dial numbers/emails/tasks.
  • It is really super great at making sequences with manual or automatic emails!
  • Great at masking our phone numbers as a local number.
  • Great at tracking opens on emails.
  • There is no click to dial function as found in SalesLoft.
  • Parts of the user interface are clunky and takes me off the page I want to be on from time to time.
  • Tracks information on companies but does not always find the right info.
Outreach is fine but I've heard it's more expensive than SalesLoft. SalesLoft does almost everything, if not at least everything Outreach does.

Outreach is being used by both my team (client services) as well as my sales teams consisting of sales development reps and director of sales. The way that my team utilizes Outreach is by tracking outbound emails sent to clients, but for the other teams it would be used to track emails sent to prospects. I am able to see if my client has opened and/or read my email and if they've actually responded to my email. It's extremely helpful to know what the status of my outbound email is and then trying to figure out if or why my client isn't responding to me.
  • The integration of syncing to my gmail is great
  • Any other product integration like how it syncs with our Salesforce as well is super helpful
  • Overall, it's UI is pretty intuitive
  • It forces you to log back in quite often, so sometimes when I'm typing an email I'll realize it is not currently synced so then I must refresh every time
It is best for people who send a lot of outbound emails and need reporting and feedback as to the success of their campaigns and/or emails. It is great for teams or people who are client or prospect facing. When I am sending an email to a client regarding on-boarding and I need to schedule a call with them, it's super helpful to know if they actually received my email and if they then read it. After that, it's more of a puzzle of trying to figure out how I can get them to respond to my email and trying to master what works the best for my emails whether that be a subject line, etc...

We use Outreach mainly for sales development where we send emails at scale. Our account executives use it occasionally for prospecting too. We use mainly email automation and email tracking (opens, clicks, responses). It's great for sharing templates and sequences among the team. I'm managing the Sales Development team and don't use it myself, so I rely on their positive feedback and the reporting/managing aspect. I also think Outreach's resources are awesome.
  • Integrate with your own email server. The main reason why we switched email automation is because of deliverability. Outreach sends emails from your own email server, that with branded tracking URLs emails, are less likely to end up in spam folders or being flagged as "marketing." Looks like if you send an email via Outlook.
  • Robust solution. Functionalities work great without technical issues.
  • Integrations are a big plus. Works well with Salesforce and even Drift.
  • No subject line switching within a sequence. It's either a thread with "Re: [..]" or new emails.
In my opinion, it's the best email automation/sales enablement software out there for our purposes. It could use some functionalities other platforms have like pulling in dynamic content from outside sources and subject line variations within a sequence.

We use it for prospecting, contacting prospects and pipeline management. Our sales team uses it to stay organized and reach out to contacts we feel can help grow our business. It is the second most important platform we use here next to SalesForce, and the two are linked closely together.
  • Using local phone numbers to call prospects
  • Letting you know when a prospect has read your email
  • Scheduling deliveries
  • Stop crashing constantly
  • Stop failing to save changes and failing to sync with SalesForce
  • Stop freezing and dropping calls
  • Falsely notifying a faulty internet connection
  • Failing to open and load
  • Being outright unreliable
A product with great potential that was rushed to market.

Outreach is being used as a sales enablement and email tracking tool.
  • Automatically logs emails and calls into Salesforce
  • Tracks email opens and clicks
  • Automates mass email campaigns
  • Very glitchy
  • Customer service is very slow to respond and resolve issues - I once went 24 hours before getting a response and was then asked to engage in trouble-shooting via email/chat which is very time consuming and frustrating
  • Emails often send with a couple different font styles/sizes and spacing can be distorted from the recipient's view
Good for organizations that want to send out email campaigns on mass basis in a spam like fashion (i.e. invitation to an event, webinars your organization is hosting, new product release, etc.)

Our entire sales department uses Outreach. We use Outreach for email automation, templates, success rate tracking, and call automation.
  • Simple to use
  • Easy to set up templates
  • Reliable email tracking
  • Updates could be more real-time. Often times I need to refresh to see the latest open activity.
Outreach is well suited for any high volume sales department. There are many features that can be utilized by different role types whether you are a sales executive or in business development. Outreach is less appropriate for account management roles or organizations with low touch sales needs.

We use OutReach with our Sales team, specifically with our appointment setting team members. OutReach allows them to organize those leads they want to target each day. OutReach enables them to ensurer they are touching those leads at least 8-12 times throughout the sequence, which drastically helps improve our conversion ratios.
  • Helps target specific leads to work each day/week.
  • Keeps our appointment setters organized & tasks created for easy follow-up.
  • We can create specific messaging based on the type of lead we're working.
  • I would love a small pop-up window to show when emails are opened.
  • It would be awesome to be able to grab open time slots from the calendar & incorporate them into a sequence for prospects to choose & auto update the calendar.
Great for outbound efforts as well as for reaching out to existing clients to remain top of mind.
Because OutReach pulls info from Salesforce, sometimes it becomes difficult to address messages to specific people.

My entire Inside Sales organization uses Outreach as a prospecting tool. It allows us to increase the quality and quantity of our prospecting touches in less overall time.
  • Outreach Voice - I've never had any technical issues with the phone quality or service. Local area codes increases pickup rates too.
  • Sequences - we run our entire business off of these and the flexibility and options here are awesome.
  • Reporting - I gain insights that allow me to strategically direct my team going forward to continuously improve productivity.
  • I'd like to see even more advanced reporting.
Very well-suited for reps who prospect and for high volume. It is less valuable if your reps only handle a handful of opportunities at any given time or if they don't do any prospecting.

We use Outreach as the main platform for our Sales Development Reps. At least 90% of the company is exclusively in Outreach and the only ones that remain in Salesforce are those that are full cycle sales execs or there are client requirements. It solves a lot of business issues, among them are the issues with reps wasting time sending emails, researching, planning out their day, losing prospects to the funnel due to poor follow up, email tracking, A/B testing etc. The list goes on and on.
  • Automating emails and using mail merge field to make custom emails
  • A/B Testing
  • Saving time by providing all the necessary data in one spot
  • Process Automation
  • Integration with Salesforce on the Account level could use some refinement
  • The Dialer is not the best but it isn't required.
Outreach is amazing for the SDR role in my experience and it needs an additional CRM at the moment if you work as an Account Exec handling the prospect to the close. It should not be used as a marketing automation alternative.

Outreach is being used by our organization in prospecting for new business as well as to work with current customers and get them to events or do more regular follow ups that would be very hard to find time for without this great tool for customized automation. It enables me to put together as many different types of templated conversations, set someone in them and forget, until the next follow up is due for them. So they never actually get forgotten, but my mind is free to get out and do a whole lot more good.
  • Easy to import into Outreach
  • Easy to build out sequences to use for repeated outreach
  • Easy to set tasks with individuals, very customized
  • When you import new contacts into Outreach, it would be nice if it allowed you to easily upload these into Salesforce, which it says it can do, but I've never found it to work right
  • Would be nice if you could modify the tasks orders in a sequence even after you've put contacts into it
Awesome for reaching out to 100's of people across dozens of companies all at once. Awesome for making sure that all of the warm pipeline you have that needs next steps tasks, can all be easily set and called on all within this one platform. GREAT if you are using Salesforce.

Outreach is used by multiple departments at this organization, everyone takes part in sales someway or another so having a tool that can manage communication with clients and prospects is essential. Outreach allows multiple departments to manage their communication efforts to clients and prospective clients.
  • Outreach is excellent at organizing my pipeline communication, in a few clicks I can see a simple overview of my call/email campaign with specific prospects.
  • Outreach does a great job of managing the communication with my prospects, it gives me great insight into how my emails are received on the other end, as well as the ability to add notes onto a call. Takes away the pain of having to review for 10 minutes before every call, review time can be cut down to 30 seconds.
  • From an engineering standpoint, Outreach seems to be easily customized to my team's certain campaign desires. The A/B test feature is also awesome, allows for a quick glance at the success of specific campaigns against each other!
  • The learning curve to Outreach can be difficult unless a team has an Outreach guru some features often go unnoticed.
  • Occasionally calls will drop and recordings are not found, but this happens few times day to day.
  • When campaigns are heavily customized some of the more simple features of Outreach tend to experience issues, for instance when a prospect was marked finished in a sequence, the next day they still received another email or I was tasked to call them once more.
For the number of prospects, I am required to target to increase my success rate, Outreach is an awesome tool that allows me to easily manage a pipeline of 250 targeted touches a week. While email campaigns are extremely customizable, true organic email communication is still best in a separate email client where you have full control over the message.

Only in the sales organization, and helps out sales staff track and engage clients. It helps our sales staff keep track of the client sales process and creates a unified way to approach our sales strategy.
  • Email tracking
  • Creating a uniform process to the sales process
  • Gives measurable statistics for the individual user all the way up to the C-Level Suite.
  • Sequences can be tedious and easy to mess up if adjustments aren't thought through.
  • I wish there was a pipeline integration to outreach
  • At times Outreach can have latency issues
In sales, its a must have tool. Without it, you cannot track email opens, potential client engagement, and strategically approach the sales process. Sequencing a CEO or VP allows you to tailor your email follow up as they open and view each email. Catching someone while they are on their computer is very important.

  • E-mail integration (gmail)
  • Calendar integration (possibility for tasks to pop up in google calendar)

We use Outreach to make calls and sequence prospects. It is also used by our marketing research team to gather prospects. I also use it to keep track of tasks and queues. I like the fact that it can make calls to almost every country and the fact that you can use local numbers.
  • Local numbers for international calling
  • Robust reporting and analytics
  • Simple interface
  • Sequences and sequence steps need to be more flexible
  • Call quality is not the best
  • Too much purple visually
You need to call say an Australian number. If you call using a local (your) number chances are they won't pick up but Outreach gives you the ability to generate a random Australian number making it easier to get through to prospects. However, calls tend to disconnect frequently and this should be fixed.
